Riazul Silver

Gringo Rating:
Both delightful and unusual blanco

From TequilaGringo: These distinct bottles arrived and we were immediately intrigued.  The first we tried was the silver (habit I guess).  Riazul starts with 6 year old agave's, where most use 8-10 yr old plants.  Riazul reports that sugar levels in the younger plants is higher and helps create their great taste. The nose came off as a vegetal, earthy agave.  Not necessarily typical for a highland tequila.  The taste is where this tequila impresses, it's really fantastic.   A delicious blanco.  Initially we got nicely strong agave taste, and a light warmth, then notes of citrus.  It finishes in a typical amount of time, but gets a little more complex at the end, bringing in a chocolate-y caramel.  Very unusual for a blanco.  It all balanced together very well, resulting in a great overall tequila.

From Riazul: Riazul Tequila is a Houston, Tx based & Jalisco, Mexico produced (from land that has been in our founder Iñaki Orozco's Familia for generations) is the Hot new ultra smooth premium Tequila that is quickly becoming one of the most sought after spirits of 2009... 'A Unique Sipping Experience' indeed!
