Corzo Reposado
TequilaGringo: Corzo reposado's a solid choice because they're pretty easy to find and so much better than the typical tequila out there. Each bottle is 7-12 years in the making. They use twice the agave compared to most other tequilas. Though more expensive, they cut down to the purest heart of the distillate. The tequila is from the Los Altos de Jalisco area, and that higher altitude produces agave with a higher sugar content making for sweeter flavors. Corzo's also the only tequila to incorporate a second mellowing process prior to the third distillation. The double mellowing enhances the oak and vanilla flavors while maintaining the softness and smoothness of the finish. We found the nose to be mostly agave, with a mild alchohol heat compared to Corzo's anejo. On the palatte, we found agave up front, and the in the middle of a longish finish we found vanilla - a very nice surprise! Mouthfeel was clean.
Bottle designed by world renowned designer Fabien Baron in the spirit of Modern Mexican architecture. It's waterfall mouth is a tribute to one of Barragan Morfin's most famous fountains located in Los Cabos.
