Agave
Casa Dragones
From TequilaGringo: We just had a tasting of this very expensive, ultra high-end tequila, and we liked it! The nose has some vegetal hints, and very little burn. Initial taste was vegetal, with prominent sweet agave. As the taste progressed, it became a sweet pear and it kept getting sweeter, until the finish which was almost sugary. It has a silky, velvety mouthfeel that makes it highly drinkable - you roll this bottle out with the ladies and you're all gonna be in the tank in no time. It's incredibly easy-drinking, super low heat, very very smooth. Read more »
El Gran Jubileo Blanco
From TequilaGringo: This tequila brought a nice, medium agave on the nose. A little floral, a little grassy, but mostly agave. We liked the smell. Mouthfeel was oily, and the legs were thick. The taste was a very easy, grassy agave with low heat and a slight black pepper note. A very fine tequila - we really liked this one a lot. And for $33 - it's a fantastic value and we wouldn't hesitate to put it into a marg if we felt like treating ourselves.

Trago Anejo
From TequilaGringo: An anejo for agave lovers. Clear, clean agave flavor. Not much of the barrel is noticeable and this is not a flaw, but rather a feature for those who like more vegetal tequilas. Very light spice, low heat, and smooth. Color is lighter than many anejos. An interesting sipping teqiula but perhaps not for those of you who enjoy honeyed or oakey anejos. Read more »
Tequila Revolucion - 100 Proof Blanco
From TequilaGringo: It's not every day you come across a 100 proof tequila, so we were pretty excited to give this one a sip. We were also a bit apprehensive though, because 100 proof is, well, it's 100 proof - and that can mean it's going to bring the pain. But that's not what happened at all. It's of course warmer than a typical tequila, that's to be expected - but this is no badge of honor-wince-and-get-it-over-with juice. I'm sure many will try it because they're looking to get sauced, heck it'll probably be a party thing for most. But in reality it's more than that. The nose has a bit of alcohol, but is largely agave. The mouthfeel - silky and velvety. Read more »
Revolucion Reposado
From TequilaGringo: This tequila has guns on the bottle. We like that, and firmly believe in everyone's right to bear tequila bottles with arms on them. And darn if it doesn't have the best cap in the business, we just love giving it a simple spin between the thumb and middle finger and watching it unwind silky smooth style. But that's just packaging at the end of the day. What's inside is what counts, and Revolucion delivers. The color is an exceptionally pale yellow, particularly for a repo that spent 10 months in the barrel. The nose is a vegetal, somewhat earthy agave. The mouthfeel is on the thin side and soft. The taste follows suit, with an earthy agave with maybe a touch of spice. Read more »
Sol de Mexico Blanco
From TequilaGringo: The nose on this blanco was earthy/clove-y, slightly smokey. Usually it's the lowland tequilas that have more earthy tones, so this surprised us a bit. On taste, we found it to posses a true agave flavor, with perhaps a hint of cucumber (but oh so slight). We found it to have a really full bodied, flavorful taste - particularly for a blanco. Yet it's also a mild tequila, with low heat, and it's exceptionally smooth. The mouthfeel was velvety. 8 stars.

Real de Mexico Blanco
From TequilaGringo: When Fernando Hernandez of Real de Mexico sent us his blanco and his repo, we were happy. (It's fair to say we get happy with each and every bottle that comes in the mail, wouldn't you?) But maybe this was a little different because Fernando had been very nice and a pleasure to work with, and we hoped his tequila would be a good one. So, we poured it into our Reidel tequila glasses and gave it a whiff. Light sweet agave and a bit of pepper on nose. Good start on a blanco. Medium heat. OK. The flavor? You know, it was pretty simple, but in a good way. Sometimes when there's little complexity but you get a good simple agave, that's what you want. The length of the finish was standard.
